Asher's Story S1E8

"The End of the Beginning"

With a wounded Lona in tow, and a missing Sterik on the loose, Asher and Prewitt make their way back to the trapped demon. But on the way upstairs, the party notices an arcane ward, placed on the floor that bound two multi-armed skeletons in stasis, has been disturbed. Fortunately, the three heroes successfully handle the foes without so much as a scratch on them and continue to head back to Ulgroth.

The Demon, still bored with it's jail, tries to get Asher to release it, but the bounty hunter instead proceeds to read the words of the banishing ritual that Nix had translated for him.

Ulgroth, before blinking out this plane, says to Asher that he will see him again. Soon.

But unfortunately, while the heroes were busying themselves with the banishment, Sterik Senti attacks the party, and in a display of power, summons a lighting bolt that strikes Lona full force, killing her instantly. Prewitt manages to barely dodge the spells impact but is knocked unconscious.

Asher and the zealot engage in an intense battle, with Asher slaying Sterik and healing the gnome teen right before her life slipped from her. Asher and Prewitt then manage to leave the ancient temple with the dead devlin, hiding the body in the mausoleum to retrieve later and hopefully revive her.

The storm, now at it height, rages on with the two making their way, with the help of Water Walking to Elsan's town-home.

With rain in their faces and the wind howling, Asher and Prewitt soon hear a gun shot ahead. Sneaking forward, not knowing what they will find, the bounty hunter and his assistant discover a scene that they are not willing to risk themselves to right.

Three Ghost Gang members are drowning a Heel, an enforcer of The Authority while one more Heel, seemingly dead, lays floating in the flooded intersection.

Soon the enforcer goes limp, and the gang members leave. But not before they strip the bodies of what Asher later realizes, upon his own search of the bodies once the terrorists are gone, are stun grenades and Dampener Gadgets.

The two continue to the town-home, but before reaching their destination, Asher and Prewitt are conned by a female half-orc pleading for help rescuing her baby. After following the thug down an alley to a flooded room, three more "opportunists" attack the heroes but are quickly dispatched. And upon a search of the flooded apartment, filled with looted goods, medications are found for a famous lounge singer suffering from a painful, degenerative disease.

Unfortunately for the singer, the address is in Old Town and Asher deems it too far to travel in this weather. Later he does tell Elsan about it and the elf sends a courier to retrieve the meds and deliver them to their patient.

Finally the party find their way to headquarters of the Veil Society cell they've been working for and get some much needed rest. But not before they inform Elsan of all that has happened, including the hiding place of the body of his bodyguard.

With the storm subsiding, what lies in store for the heroes (as well as the city)...
