Magnus' Story S1E2

"The Conspiracy Deepens"

Reaching out to grasp one of the handles to the double doors that lead into the strange warehouse, Magnus catches himself. He realizes that it would be extremely advantageous to cast a spell to see if there is a trap on the doors, or at least an arcane alarm...

Bingo.

He almost blundered into triggering the arcane alarm placed on the doors and windows.

...too close.

He would need to be wiser about how he went about investigating this case. Take his time and not make anymore careless mistakes.

Maybe figuring he needed to regroup back at the office of A.C.I., Magnus heads back for a night's rest,  with the morning finding him, after having had breakfast, and then a rejuvenating tea at his new favorite spot - The Glimmering Brew. And knowing that he needs a clue, most likely found in the warehouse, decides to head to Magus Row to seek out a gadget or two that might aid him in his investigation.

The unfortunately thing about Magus Row, at least to Magnus, is that, at some point in time or the other, he has rubbed the shopkeeps the wrong way. Him being the charmer that he is.

But, there is one shop who's doors he hasn't darkened. Obscura Arcana. Its owner Dumple Dorendip, a strange, but friendly, gnome, greets Magnus as the shop's door rings-in his entrance.

Little time is wasted by the half-breed as the two discuss Magnus' needs and Dumple wares.

At first, the shopkeep is reluctant to sell to Magnus the gadgets he's looking for, especially at a reasonable price. But the P.I. sweetens the pot by adding that Elara Vane will give Obscura Arcana free publicity.

A fair deal is soon made.

While returning to Æther City Investigations, Magnus' gut goes off. He could almost swear that he is being tailed...

He turns to look, but sees nothing out of the ordinary.

Magnus even diverts down a side alley, and into hiding, to see if he can spot his "shadow".

No one.

It must have been nothing...

Back to the outskirts of Old Town and the double doors of the warehouse, but this time casting Fog Cloud to obscure the area from the camera he first noticed the last time he'd been at the doors face.  And with arcane stealth surrounding him, uses his new Dispel Magic gadget to disable the Alarm on the doors, and slip in after unlocking them.

The warehouse is one large room full of boxes and crates stacked high and around. Magnus takes some time to search for any secret exits, not falling for the belief that there is but a single entrance to the building, and finds a wooden crate full of dozens of Neon Stilettos and three locked polymer boxes full of gadgets, of which he is able to open two before breaking his lockpicks.

Strange. Strange that the building is empty of anyone.

But still, a puzzling score.

Magnus heads back to A.C.I. to rest and attune to his new stiletto. He even finds time to Identify one of each of the two types of gadgets he liberated. Gaseous Form and Pass Without A Trace.

While doing all this, our hero reaches out to Nyx to see if the hacker can come up with a path for Magnus to travel tomorrow where city camera can be used to discover who might be tailing the private investigator.

But Magnus barely has time to be worried about the implications that he is being watched, as well as what he found in the warehouse, before he receives a text from Elara, "Come quick. I've been doing some investigating of my own and found a secret hideout!"

The coordinates are attached.
