SETTING NOTES (FACTS & TRUTHS)

Fact #1: The Date is 1231 E.P. (Era of Peace, which is so named because of the armistice between the civil nation of Ezara and the monstrous tribes of Anggor.)

Fact #2: Æther City (in the nation of Ezara) is at the mouth of the Estron River, and on the Airidia Bay -on the continent of Avenlast.

Fact #3: The days of the week are Weekstart, Taxianday, Midweek, Adisday, Avensday & Soulsrest.

Fact #4: Avenlast has two moons, Chimeros and Selunara.

Fact #5: Money in Æther City is called shards (based on the crystals not only used for gadgets, but from the early days of the city when they were traded as currency.

Fact #6: Shards for gadgets are being mined from the Adismeer Mountains (where the Solmeen Peak is). Now that gadgets have become popular, a consortium has begun to regulate the scarcity of shards.

Fact #7: Æther City started out as the "free city of Feyar". Named after Amel Feyar, an elven wizard who is father of the city. Amel Feyar died of age related health reasons (after being raised from the dead multiple times) in the winter of 976 E.P. and is long held as Arkane Taxian's rival. Upon his death, the council voted to change the city's name to Æther City since that was what the inhabitant already lovingly called it.

Fact #8: In Avenlast, every caster has a unique magickal thumbprint called a "Thaumic Signature".

Truth #1:  Æther City is an ancient city where magic and technology mix.

 

Truth #2: Except for a few periods of equalitarity, the city has almost always had a class struggle.

 

Truth #3: The decadence of the city ebbs and flows, but recently it's level has reached and all-time high.
