Overview: The Major Species of Æther City
Æther
City has drawn many species to itself. And over the life of the city, populations have ebbed and flowed. But what you will find listed here are the ones that have seen Feyar through it various incarnations. Many aren't listed here, but, what is, is a list and overview of the most numerous and dominant types that inhabit the city.
The upper caste...
Humans
One of the three species considered in control of the destiny of Æther
City, the humans of the city make up a good portion of the inhabitants (around a third). They can be found in many corners of the city, in just as many jobs, and in all levels of culture. Some live the lives of C.E.O.'s while some seem content to spend their time in The Skids.
Elves
One of the two species that are the children of the fae, the city's elves are usually found in the upper crust of Æther City's happenings. Many of them have been around long enough to see the city through it's phases and are poised to reap the benefits of the efforts of the working class. Though some have found themselves in need, but mostly those are half-elves.
Gnomes
The Gnomes of the city aren't so numerous as they are in the spotlight. Holding rank in the various politics of the city as well as filling the halls of Taxian University, gnomes have made a place for themselves. Only a few have sunk to the level of the lower caste or could be found in The Skids. Many of them also have a knack with technomancy and make use of those skills involved. They tend to be supremacists.
Kiff
The lower caste...
Kobolds
Of
the four species that are in the lower caste, the dog like kobolds number in the highest. Usually found in metal shops, or in inventor's labs, kobolds are a bright and hardworking group. Mostly bold extroverts, they insert themselves into any situation that they deem exciting.
Orcs
Large and imposing, orcs, and their half-orc spawn (who generally don't have the large, protruding teeth), are usually the workers of blue-collar jobs. Sometimes fiery in nature, they are subject to much discrimination among the upper castes. But these days though, there are more than a few orcs that are breaking the mold by being more concerned with peace and unity. But never forget, at heart, they are warriors.
Devlins
Equally discriminated against (due to their hellish nature) and revered (for their beauty), devlins are seen as criminals. Many choose to live a life outside of the law, though, a few, have made such a life for themselves that one might have thought that they belonged in the upper caste.
Faeries
Making up the fewest in number of the major species of Æther
City, faeries do their best to fit in though many simply do not. A bit more wild than their fae brothers and sisters (elves), faeries are more mischievous and rebellious. Many have decided to become couriers but more than a few opted to sell their flesh to those with more exotic tastes.
