Overview: Holidays in the Free City

 

The free city can be a place of joy and celebration. A place where times of camaraderie and kinship out shadow the strife that the city usually feels. What is listed below are the major events of the city, but there are certainly lesser holidays throughout the city.

 

HOLIDAYS:

 

 Founders’ Festival

Honors the city’s founders with historical reenactments, speeches, and a grand ball in the central plaza. Held in the fall.

 

 Skyship Regatta

A week-long summer event where skyships race through the city’s airways. Includes shipbuilding contests and aerial acrobatics.

 

Golem Gala

A celebration of automata and golems, featuring exhibitions of the latest creations and a contest for the most innovative designs. Held each spring.

 

 Festival of Lights

Marks the winter solstice with enchanted lanterns and light sculptures illuminating the city streets.

 

 Inventors’ Expo

Showcases the latest technological and magical inventions. Inventors from all over the city present their creations, and awards are given for the most groundbreaking innovations.

 

Summer Kite Festival

Marking the summer solstice with kite flying, small to large, kites of all kind can be seen in the sky.

 

Workers' Day

A celebration of the working class in Æther City. Many sections of the city have block parties, but the main event is the parade in Old Town.

 

The Midnight Ball

Started as a reply to Worker's Day, this event is a masquerade held by council members to celebrate the upper caste.
